What is NCS?

National Citizen Service (NCS) is an experience you really don't want to miss. If you're 15 to 17 years-old, this is your chance to embark on exhilarating challenges, make your mark and build skills for work and life. More than 275,000 young people have already said YES to NCS. Don't. Miss. Out.

The NCS are a fantastic not-for-profit social enterprise, who support teenagers in gaining UCAS recognised life skills.  Social Cohesion, Social Mobility and Social Engagement - these are the priorities of this forward thinking national set up.

Two weeks of kindness acts

We were approached by two members of a local NCS social action project, Emily (left) and Taryn (right), who wanted to see if we would be interested in supporting their group.  It just so happened that their group was doing a 2 week kindness project, so we jumped at the chance to be involved.  The group of 20 teenagers were involved in several happenings during the 2 weeks, including:

  1. A collection for the homeless in collaboration with Chapelfield Methodist Church
  2. Distribution of the items collected to the homeless of Norwich, with support from St Martin's Housing Trust
  3. Volunteering at various different charity shops across the city of Norwich.
  4. Completing various 25 second challenges to raise money for the Norwich Community Sports Foundation.
  5. Visiting care homes in the city to interact with the residents, entertain them and hear about their memories.  The members of the group also created scrapbooks for the residents, based on the memories they had shared.
  6. A whole day of Random Acts of Kindness throughout the city, supported by us at the Missing Kind!

If you're interested in getting involved with NCS we'd really recommend you check out their website, so that you can learn more about this great social enterprise!
