Must be available to work day times initially, progressing to weekends and evenings

6 month fixed term contract initially

We’re seeking an ambitious, hard working individual with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for making a difference to play a pivotal role in launching an evening bar and events programme at our popular community cafe.

This is an exciting time to join our friendly KindaKafe team as we increase our cafe opening times and strive to offer a mindful approach to the evening food and drink experience.

Our daytime cafe is well loved for our friendly, welcoming atmosphere, great coffee and delicious homemade vegetarian and vegan food. We need your help to extend our cafe as an evening venue - to create a quirky place where friends can meet and new friends can be made whilst unwinding with a beverage and enjoying our culinary delights.

This role will include sourcing and building relationships with suppliers (local and ethical where possible), supporting the Cafe Manager to create and update food and drink menus, serving customers and supervising staff and volunteers.

We need you to have:

  • Previous bar supervisor experience
  • Have an understanding of licensing law
  • Experience in planning and organising events
  • Experience of supervising staff and/or volunteers
  • Previous experience of providing excellent customer service and knowledge of how to tailor the experience to suit all visitors
  • Confidence in using your own initiative and working as part of a small team to ensure a vibrant, engaging atmosphere
  • Confidence in processing electronic till transactions and handling money
  • The ability to follow procedure to maintain health and safety and accuracy

Ideally you will also have…

  • A personal license or would be willing to work towards achieving one
  • Experience in food preparation
  • An up to date food hygiene certificate

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing the bar and cafe for opening and closing, ensuring venue is clean and tidy
  • Welcoming customers and processing orders using electronic point of sales system
  • Maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Preparing and serving meals and drinks
  • Ensuring a high standard of personal cleanliness and presentation
  • Supervising and motivating staff and event volunteers
  • Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met
  • Assisting with evening bar development and event plans
  • Confidently promoting the Missing Kind’s charitable work to customers
