What's on News Bringing people together Written by Lauren Lonergan, Administration Volunteer at KindaKafe, Norwich There are a range of different social groups that meet at KindaKafe, Norwich - from creative writing to a young adults social group - and every single one of them is different in their own way. However, they all share one important purpose - bringing people from different backgrounds together. The Bridge Social Group, run by Lynn and Rachel, meets every Thursday morning (10am - 12pm) for a cup of tea and a friendly chat. Every member has their own personal story and each one is different - which is one of the reasons that the members like coming. The group sometimes - if the weather is nice - goes out and explores the local area, or further afield. Last month on Thursday 13th June the group decided to visit Hemsby - a place the majority of them had never been before - and even though it chucked it down with rain in the morning (and on and off throughout the day) it didn't stop them from walking through the dunes and even sitting on the sand down on the beach. “It’s very peaceful and meditating by the coast”, one member said, while another said “it’s nice to share my home village with people who I now consider friends.” Groups like The Bridge help people who would normally be lonely or find it hard to socialise to meet others who are in the same boat as them. It is a friendly group who supports one another with and through everything. The group is supported by Better Together Norfolk, Norwich City Council and of course KindaKafe. If you are interested in coming then please do. Everyone is welcome. Just come along on the day, or get in touch with Lynn on 07534375776.
