On 23 November, 8 students aged 15-20 years old will be swapping the classroom for the kitchen and trying their hands at running KindaKafe, our community cafe and hub on Castle Meadow, Norwich.

Takeover Challenge Day 2018 will see thousands of children and young people across the country step into the shoes of a wide range of adult jobs to gain insight and experience in the workplace.

The event has been organised by Catch 22 and Pop Up Enterprises CIC which manages KindaKafe in partnership with the Missing Kind charity.

The students will be put in key decision making roles in the cafe and will be helping to develop new children’s party packages which will launch at the KindaKafe in the New Year.

The event is an opportunity for the students, who all attend Catch 22’s College in Thetford, to gain a taste of running a social business that uses its profits to help people fulfil their potential and combat loneliness and social isolation.

The event has been made possible by the generous support of the Breckland YAB which commissioned Pop Up Enterprises to deliver careers advice drop-ins for young people across Breckland and to provide access to meaningful volunteering and work experience opportunities.
